I just realized there are only 31 days left in 2017. I get so busy and focused sometimes that I fail to see the forest for the trees.

31 days. Make them count. Finish 2017 in a meaningful way. Here are 31 suggestions:

  1. Smile at a stranger.
  2. Make someone laugh.
  3. Try something new.
  4. Mail a hand-written card to someone out of town.
  5. Refrain from gossip for an entire day.
  6. Meditate.
  7. Take some “me” time every day, even if it’s just 15 minutes.
  8. Truly listen to someone without interruption, judgment or advice.
  9. Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
  10. Donate food to a local food pantry.
  11. Buy coffee for the person behind you in line at the coffee shop.
  12. Make your family’s favorite meal and eat it together.
  13. Participate in a library program.
  14. Give your co-parent the night off.
  15. Cross something off your “bucket list.”
  16. Count how many compliments you give in one day.
  17. Thank a veteran, police officer, EMT or firefighter for his/her service.
  18. Rake leaves for an elderly neighbor.
  19. Make a donation to your favorite charity.
  20. Call someone you haven’t talked to in a while.
